Guilford College, Greensboro NC. Bachelor of Science degrees, one each in Psychology and Cultural Anthropology and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Advanced mediation training. Coachville, School of Coaching The Graduate School of Coaching Black Mountain Institute: Advanced Hypnotherapy Techniques with Certification WORK EXPERIENCE Director: Triangle Life Coaching Center: I am one of a group of coaches who work with individuals, couples and groups using traditional coaching, behavior modification, counseling and hypnology training to help clients discover and remove any blocks that may be keeping them from successfully achieving their emotional, spiritual, health and financial goals. Common issues involve discovering strengths and defining goals, brainstorming strategies, action planning, long-term evaluation, holistic self-integration, balancing work and personal needs, career development and becoming self-employed. Executive Director: The Exchange Clubs' Family Center in Durham. I supervised four programs, all designed to strengthen families and increase positive relations and behaviors between family members. Programs ranged from pre-school intervention to working with at-risk adolescents. I facilitated parent education groups and workshops; designed, implemented and evaluated new family support programs; participated in community efforts to coordinate family support initiatives; trained other family support workers in the community and was responsible for all office management including the budget, the accounting and the grant writing. Project Director: the ADHD/LD Child Abuse Prevention Project. Identified the correlation between children with attention and activity disorders, child abuse, and teen-age violence. Assembled one research team to document basic concepts and another to develop a primary prevention program to support children, families, and schools struggling with issues of ADHD/LD, abuse and violence. Director: The Exchange Club Family Center in Alamance. As the first Director of a new agency, I created a strong community presence, established office protocol and procedures, implemented family therapy, and parent support groups, developed a parent information database, designed a family support web-site for parents, and created an e-mail newsletter for administrators of nonprofits serving families and children. Family Case Manager: Exchange Club Family Center. Provided support and taught critical thinking skills, parenting techniques, and personal development through in-home visits and group work with families under severe stress and at risk for child abuse. Developed group program that provides social support, role modeling, experiential learning, and is designed to teach goal achievement, conflict reduction and negotiation skills. Research Analyst: The Center for Creative Leadership. Researched data concerning qualitative versus quantitative methods of research. Analyzed qualitative evaluation techniques for leadership training seminars. Worked with a team to design, implement and analyze evaluative data to be obtained from major programs and co-wrote ensuing reports. Director: YMCA After-school Program and Summer Camp. Designed and directed very successful district-wide after-school program. Also designed all aspects of the summer-camp program, including budget, program development, and the selection, training, and management of counselors. SPECIAL SKILLS Extensive experience in community building, agency collaboration, grass roots organizing, and program development and ADHD/LD issues. Trained conflict resolution mediator. Proficient in grant writing, Office 2000 Professional (Word, Access, Excel), WordPerfect, Publisher 2000, and website-building for the Internet. Professional Personal Coach. Certified hypnotherapist. I have strengths in abstract understanding and integrating (seemingly) oppositional issues. I work well in teams or individually and I enjoy problem brainstorming and resolution. My greatest satisfactions lie in discovering and implementing new ways of thinking and doing that help myself and others achieve more satisfying lives.
